Brasil on Two Pianos

Pianists Fabio Caramuru and Marco Bernardo present Brasil on Two Pianos, an album that highlights the richness and diversity of Brazilian music through arrangements for two pianos. Featuring 17 tracks, the repertoire spans renowned works, contemporary compositions, and original pieces, offering a broad view of Brazil’s musical tradition.

The selection includes classics by Tom Jobim, such as Desafinado, Insensatez, and Samba do Avião, alongside works by Vinicius de Moraes, Ernesto Nazareth, Radamés Gnattali, Gilberto Gil, Egberto Gismonti, and Cesar Camargo Mariano. With precision, the pianists explore the harmonic sophistication, rhythmic richness, and lyricism of the repertoire through arrangements that expand its expressive possibilities. Highlights include interpretations of Domingo no Parque (Gil), Meu Amigo Radamés (Jobim and Gnattali), and Espalhafatoso (Nazareth), the latter in a version crafted by Francisco Mignone.

The project also features compositions by Fabio Caramuru, a pianist, composer, and producer with classical training and an international career. Awarded by the São Paulo Association of Art Critics in 1991, Caramuru has performed as a soloist in major concert halls across Brazil, Europe, North America, and Japan. His works Cigarra and Harpia are part of the EcoMúsica project, which integrates music with sounds of nature. Marco Bernardo, a pianist, arranger, and researcher, specializes in choro and Brazilian music, with albums dedicated to Radamés Gnattali and to the recovery of rare piano scores. Together, the pianists propose a refined, contemporary approach to Brazilian music for two pianos.

The result of a partnership that began in 2014, Brasil on Two Pianos stands as a tribute to Brazilian music and to the versatility of the piano as an instrument of cultural expression.
