The Italian composer and orchestrator Filippo Landi, based in London, presents his solo piano album Eu Lírico. Recorded at Fieldgate Studios in Cardiff on a Fazioli piano, and featuring musicians from the BBC Orchestra of Wales on three tracks, the album invites listeners on a journey of introspection and reconnection, marked by lyricism and sensitivity.
The title Eu Lírico refers to the inner poetic voice, here translated into music. The pieces explore themes of freedom and transformation — as in Murmuration No. 1 and Murmuration No. 2, inspired by the flight of starlings, and A Dança da Borboleta (“The Butterfly’s Dance”), which reflects on the challenges of change. Other highlights include the contemplative Teide Reverie and the pairing Prelude to Entanglement and Entanglement, closing the cycle with sonic metaphors for the invisible connections that bind us to the world, to memory, and to one another.
With subtle echoes of his connection to Brazil — through delicate rhythmic and harmonic nuances that evoke its musicality — Eu Lírico reveals Filippo Landi as a composer of deeply personal and refined expression, uniting technique and emotion in an album of profound humanity.
