Flausino Vale & The Brazilian Violin

Flausino Vale & The Brazilian Violin marks a decisive chapter in the rediscovery and appreciation of Brazil’s solo violin repertoire. Bringing together 30 tracks, the album highlights the genius and singular voice of Flausino Rodrigues Vale (1894–1954), a composer from Minas Gerais who combined lyricism, virtuosity, and Brazilian identity into a truly unique musical language.

The works blend elements of European Romanticism, musical nationalism, and Brazilian folk traditions. With refined technical demands and strong poetic expression, they evoke landscapes, rhythms, and colors of Brazil’s inner regions. The program is further enriched by two rare solo violin arrangements by Flausino himself: Le Cygne by Saint-Saëns and the iconic Tico-tico no Fubá by Zequinha de Abreu — clear examples of his ability to translate well-known works into an idiomatic, expressive writing that preserves their essence while revealing new possibilities for the instrument.

The interpretation is delivered with excellence by Claudio Cruz, one of the leading violinists and conductors in Brazilian classical music. With a distinguished career as a soloist, conductor, and educator, Cruz brings sensitivity, refinement, and remarkable technical command, reaffirming the enduring relevance of Flausino’s work.

More than an interpretative achievement, Flausino Vale & The Brazilian Violin is an act of preservation and celebration of Brazil’s musical memory — a bridge between tradition and contemporaneity, between individual virtuosity and the collective imagination.
