Francisco Luz

Having recorded works by more than 20 Brazilian composers, Francisco Luz is a young guitarist committed to the dissemination of his country’s concert music. An active chamber musician, he made his international debut performing as a member of the Brazilian Guitar Quartet in the traditional Frick Collection series in New York and, at age 24, was a soloist in Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto Andaluz with OSESP and Marin Alsop at Sala São Paulo.

Francisco frequently collaborates with important Brazilian orchestras and conductors, participating in the Brazilian premiere of El Niño by John Adams at Theatro Municipal de São Paulo conducted by Roberto Minczuk. Together with Duonovo, Francisco has already performed in didactic concerts for children and teachers in more than 30 public schools, playing Brazilian classical music and telling the stories of its composers through the book he wrote, the Almanaque da Música Brasileira para Crianças.

Mignone: Complete Original Works for Solo Guitar is the guitarist’s first solo album and brings unpublished interpretations of the works of this Brazilian composer.
