The Resonance collective of young composers releases Opus 3, its third original album, dedicated to the chamber music formation of oboe, clarinet, and bassoon. Under the artistic direction of composer and educator João Marcondes, the group presents a refreshed approach to Brazilian chamber music, gathering ten original works in diverse aesthetics, all with the common goal of expanding the expressive horizons of instrumental repertoire.
With guidance and space for individual creative development, the composers of Resonance build unique artistic paths within a collective framework. The works of Opus 3, including Tiago Dias’ Trio Parada Dura, which embraces technical virtuosity and minimalist elements, and Gui Decourt’s Nowhere Creatures, which creates atmospheres inspired by mysterious creatures and unusual sound textures, form a collection of compositions that explore a wide range of emotional nuances — from the alternation between agitation and calm to reflect daydreams, to nocturnal and introspective landscapes, and moments of bucolic lyricism with soft, expressive melodies.
The album features performances by renowned musicians from the Brazilian symphonic scene, including Alexandre Ficarelli (oboe and principal oboist of the São Paulo Municipal Symphony Orchestra), Sergio Burgani (clarinet), and Romeu Rabelo (bassoon), both members of the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (OSESP). With a cohesive and innovative aesthetic approach, Opus 3 solidifies the role of the Resonance collective in creating and promoting new Brazilian chamber music.
