Synesthetic Nature: No. 1 for Clarinet and Cello | No. 2 for String Quartet

An anthology of previously unreleased original works that seek to translate the interrelationship between the four elements, air, water, fire and earth, into music.

The album presents a sensory interpretation of the elements of nature, associating each one with a distinct expressive state: air with the realm of ideas; water with emotion, fire with conflict and earth with reconciliation. João Marcondes’s compositions explore the blending of the senses, associating a particular sound with a temperature or a scent with a certain color. By developing subtle musical narratives, the composer transforms this experience into a synesthetic expression.

The first part of the project is performed by Sérgio Burgani, principal clarinetist of OSESP, and Joel Silva de Souza, who holds a doctorate in music, teaches cello at UNESP and is a member of the São Paulo Municipal Symphony Orchestra (OSM). The second part is performed by the Topázio Quartet, formed by violinists Leandro Dias and Anderson Farinelli, violist André Ferreira Rodrigues and cellist Marialbi Trisolio, musicians of OSESP.
