In a new volume dedicated to Felice Giardini (1716–1796), the duo concludes the complete works of this leading exponent of the galant style.
Galante 2 continues the contrapuntal and harmonic language introduced in the first volume, released in 2024, with more emotionally expressive phrases and greater technical demands for the performers. The Three Duos preserve Giardini’s idiomatic writing: contrasting movements, a minuet in the style of the period and a tonal excursion into C minor — an uncommon key for strings.
Formed by cellist Adriana Holtz — a member of the OSESP since 1997 — and violinist Luiz Amato, laureate of the APCA prize and serving as spalla with the Orquestra Sinfônica Municipal de São Paulo, the Amazonas Filarmônica and the Jazz Sinfônica, the duo stands as one of the most acclaimed interpreters of the Italian composer.
