The Grammy-nominated conductor and violinist Claudio Cruz and pianist Olga Kopylova continue their successful journey through Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s sonatas for violin and piano with the release of Mozart: Sonatas for Piano and Violin, Vol. 3. Following the success of the first two volumes – both certified Silver and Gold by the Brazilian Independent Music Association (ABMI) – this third volume delves even deeper into the duo’s artistic exploration of the composer’s celebrated works.
In this volume, Cruz and Kopylova interpret Sonatas K. 454, K. 481, K. 526, and K. 547, masterpieces from Mozart’s mature period that combine virtuosity and sensitivity. Composed between 1781 and 1788, these pieces reflect the composer’s full artistic maturity, showcasing his command of classical forms and his ability to express a wide emotional range through the dialogue between violin and piano. Sonata K. 481, in particular, stands out for its rhythmic and harmonic contrasts, with a poignant central Adagio. Sonata K. 526, often considered one of Mozart’s greatest achievements for this instrumentation, is marked by its technical brilliance and the dynamic interplay between the two instruments, culminating in a dazzling final Presto that demands exceptional virtuosity.
Celebrated on the international stage, the duo brings a refined artistic sensibility and impeccable technical command to these interpretations, offering a compelling and authentic portrayal of Mozart’s distinctive style.
