Featuring 15 tracks arranged for piano and voice, soprano Carmen Monarcha and pianist Daniel Gonçalves present their new album Canto D’Anime. The project reflects the result of over a decade of artistic collaboration, in which the duo delivers a precise and sensitive interpretation of a carefully selected chamber music repertoire.
Internationally known for her 14-year tenure with André Rieu’s orchestra, Monarcha joins forces with the impeccable technique of Gonçalves, a specialist in opera, in an elegant and refined recording.
The album features songs by Fauré, Hahn, Puccini, Schumann, Villa-Lobos, Tosti, Liszt, and Poulenc, brought together to offer listeners an opportunity to explore different perspectives on love through the lyrical approach of the performers. The works engage in a dialogue across varied structures and stylistic frameworks, reflecting the multiple traditions and historical periods of western classical music. Carefully structured, the album’s narrative establishes connections between centuries of vocal repertoire through a musical language that is clear, cohesive, and timeless.
