The central theme of the album “Pocket Poetry” is the complex and incandescent feeling that we understand as love, with all its cycles and different insertions. Featuring poetries in Portuguese, English and Spanish, written entirely by the Conductor and trombonist Hugo Pinheiro, the songs are performed by the voice of the Amazon choir soprano, Amanda Aparicio, marking the duo’s debut album. The two are accompanied by guest pianist Edgar Gonsales.

The first work of the album, Pocket Poetry, shows the evolution of love in its various phases, with the first movement “Youth” symbolizing a couple in love, experiencing an ardent love of youth, and then, the work ends with the fifth movement, “Reencounter”, representing the reunion in the afterlife, where, reunited again, the lovers feel calm in the stillness of eternity. The second work – 4 Miniaturas – for trombone and piano, is a fantasy about a pilgrimage towards true love. The last work, entitled Pocket Poetry No. 2 “Hijo”, shows a mother’s love and longing for her son who left to serve the country, with a sad melody played on the trombone symbolizing the soldier’s voice. The repertoire is the result of a sensitive and sublime interpretation that takes a delicate theme, making a reflection on the whole theme that harbors love.

Currently, Amanda performs in symphonic concerts, opera montages and the entire cultural program of the Amazon Culture Department, while Hugo is the first trombone of the Amazon Philharmonic Orchestra, having his compositions presented in several countries and recorded by national and international musicians.
