Perfume: Chiquinha Gonzaga Waltzes, Vol. 2

The pianist Karin Fernandes makes an invaluable contribution to Brazilian classical music: PERFUME, a project divided into two volumes, is the first complete recording of the waltzes by the composer and conductor from Rio de Janeiro, Chiquinha Gonzaga.

Awarded in 21 national competitions, including the “X Prêmio Eldorado de Música”, Fernandes has stood out for her performance as a soloist, regularly performing with orchestras such as OSESP, Amazonas Philharmonic, and Ensemble Cairn in France.

In this second volume, the pianist presents 20 of the 41 waltzes written by Chiquinha, including the unreleased ones Perfume “Feno de Atkinsons”, Desalento, O Padre Amaro, Robertinha, Viver é Folgar (From “A Filha do Guedes”), Maria, Harmonia das Esferas and Aguará “Garça Vermelha”. The album, in addition to the unquestionable importance of its recording, is also a tribute that keeps Chiquinha Gonzaga’s legacy alive, resonating as a powerful echo of her genius.
