Ravel + Debussy

In this album, the world of sound and timbres of two of the greatest masters of Impressionism is recreated by this innovative artist in her musical maturity, offering us a very personal approach of the work by French composers Claude Debussy (1862- 1918) and Maurice Ravel (1875-1937).

After having covered expressive areas in Brazilian music and in the classical repertoire, the pianist from Rio de Janeiro, Clara Sverner, makes another important recording with indelible interpretations. Alternating between moments of extreme delicacy and expressive strength, Sverner builds an emotional bridge, evoked by the innovative harmonic treatment and combinations of timbres.

Recorded by English producer Jeffrey Ginn in Potton Hall, Suffolk, England, the sound treatment of the album is exemplary. It contains well-known pieces, such as Clair de Lune, from Debussy’s Suite Bergamasque and Ravel’s magnificent Sonatine, composed between 1903 and 1905, whose last movement, Animé, is technically challenging, having frightened the composer himself, who could not perform it in public.
