Violins Of OSESP

Violins Of OSESP is a project led by violinist and conductor Emmanuele Baldini, concertmaster of the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (OSESP) since 2005. The album brings together 14 violinists from the orchestra, performing a specially curated repertoire for ensembles of 3, 4, and 6 violins. The selection spans various periods in music history — from the Baroque to the contemporary.

With 22 tracks, Violins of OSESP features works by Ernst Mahle, Charles Dancla, Georg Philipp Telemann, Johann Joseph Fux, and Béla Bartók (in an arrangement by Rinaldo Zamai), as well as Brazilian composers Álvaro Carriello and Luis Amato. The pieces were distributed among the musicians in rotation throughout the project, with standout performances by Davi Graton, Matthew Thorpe, Adrian Petrutiu, Katia Spassova, Amanda Martins, and other members of the orchestra’s string section.

As the visionary behind the project and its artistic director, Emmanuele Baldini is recognized as one of the most distinguished violinists active in Brazil today, with a prominent international career. He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in major concert halls across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Oceania. As a conductor, he has led orchestras such as the Teatro Colón Orchestra (Buenos Aires), SODRE Orchestra (Montevideo), and served as the musical and artistic director of the Chamber Orchestra of Valdivia in Chile from 2017 to 2020.

Throughout his artistic career, Baldini has demonstrated rare sensitivity in developing innovative and creatively impactful projects. In this album, the carefully selected repertoire and outstanding interpretations by the musicians highlight his talent for uniting performers in exceptional musical experiences — enriching Brazil’s chamber music repertoire in a meaningful and lasting way.
