Mozart: Duos for Violin and Viola, K. 423 – 424, Pleyel: Three Grand Duets for Violin and Viola, Op. 69, No. 1, 2 and 3

Considered two of the greatest violinists working in Brazil, Cruz and Baldini are longtime friends; Spallas of the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra – OSESP, in 2008 created the acclaimed Quarteto OSESP that featured Cruz on viola and Baldini – who remains to this day – on violin.

They had long cherished the desire to record something together that would reflect their skills as great exponents of the national classical music scene. To this end, the Mozart duos and the Pleyel duets proved to be a fortunate and auspicious choice. In the recording, the diversity of styles, virtuosity and knowledge acquired by them throughout their successful careers, becomes clear. Despite having been guided by different masters and schools, they found in the chosen repertoire, a musical language in common and remarkably vivid, as well as reflecting in exquisite interpretations, mutual admiration, and respect.

“In this album we fulfill this wish, a very welcome encounter that provided us a very pleasant music. The repertoire is beautiful, Mozart needs no comments, but what surprised us the most were the Pleyel duets for their virtuosity, joy, and vivacity. In this album, the violin and viola create and share a profoundly harmonic and synergistic discourse “– Claudio Cruz
