Composer and pianist with a solid classical music background, Fabio Caramuru presents the album Horizon, an anthology of musical pieces and variations based on one of his recent compositions, “Nosso Amigo Tom Jobim,” an elegy to the iconic Brazilian composer Antonio Carlos Jobim (1927-1994).
The project reflects Caramuru’s intimate connection with Jobim’s music — a source of inspiration for many of the artist’s previous projects dedicated to the maestro’s work. Caramuru’s interpretations also highlight his affinity with early 20th-century French music, a passion he shares with Jobim and which has profoundly and indelibly influenced his pianistic style. His immersion in the works of Ravel, Fauré, and Debussy, under the guidance of the renowned Franco-Brazilian pianist Magdalena Tagliaferro, was essential in shaping his musical personality and refining his interpretative sensitivity.
Horizon reveals itself as a work of multiple stylistic layers and tributes. The poetic elegance of the melodies, rhythmic sophistication, and imaginative freedom of harmonies and counterpoints make this an unique piece in Caramuru’s discography.
