The collective of young composers The Unpredictable reaches its fifth album with an
unusual ensemble and a distinctive sound proposal that reinforces the group’s artistic
identity. Featuring works written for harp, cello, double bass, clarinet, and oboe, the album explores a rare instrumental combination, resulting in a soundscape of remarkable
originality and sophistication.

In this project, the harp takes on a central role, serving as the starting point for the creation of the works. By engaging with its mechanics and tonal possibilities, the composers developed different approaches — sometimes treating it as a diatonic instrument, other times integrating it into specific instrumental groupings.

The choice of this heterodox instrumentation — merging the resonance of bowed and
plucked strings with the brightness of the oboe and the intriguing timbre of the clarinet—
creates a kind of musical alchemy. The result is a sonic palette that balances
compositional precision with the creative freedom that defines the collective.

Since its debut just over a year ago, The Unpredictable has stood out for the cohesion of
its creative core and the boldness of its artistic choices. This fifth album not only marks a
moment of maturity for the group, but also sets the stage for future projects and new
creative directions.
