Rooted in Latin American rhythms and melodies, the composer presents a six-movement suite, alongside three additional pieces inspired by the work of Stravinsky.

In an artistic reading that highlights the vibrancy and diversity of these cultures, Latin American Suite No. 1 brings together genres such as the Argentine tango, Brazilian choro, Venezuelan bambuco, and Bolivian carnavalito, alongside the canción de cuna and bolero. Rather than treating these references as folkloric quotations, Marcondes uses them as raw material that channels each culture’s identity through his own personal lens. Rounding out the album are the Picturesque Mentions for String Quintet, a three-movement work paying tribute to Russian composer Igor Stravinsky.

A frequent collaborator on the composer’s projects, the Quartetto Topázio — violinists Leandro Dias and Anderson Farinelli, violist André Ferreira Rodrigues, and cellist Marialbi Trisolio, all musicians of the OSESP — join forces with young double bassist Gabriela Negri, bringing chamber maturity and sensitivity to their performance of the work.
