The acoustic guitar player from São Paulo, CAMILO CARRARA, has always had a deep admiration for Japanese culture and for the delicacy and sensitivity of its traditional songs. After extensive research for scores and recordings of these pieces, Carrara was enchanted by the differences in the musical scales of oriental instruments and the possibilities when adapted for guitar performances.
In the material researched, he found a catalog of the exhibition “The World of Taizi Harada”, which featured paintings inspired by the 100 most outstanding songs of the 20th century, chosen by the Japanese. They are songs used until these days in Japanese schools to help in the education of students, transmitted and perpetuated in the imaginary of future generations by teachers, parents and grandparents.
Attentive in the selection and musical production, Carrara’s adaptations can now be appreciated in 24 exquisite arrangements of SONGS FROM JAPAN, an emblematic and surprising work.
